An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a major European supplier of cast rolls to the metal working industry worldwide.

As Mechanical Maintenance Engineer reporting to the Works Engineer, you will be responsible for the management and supervision of mechanical maintenance engineering with a focus on the design and re-engineering of equipment to improve plant and equipment uptime and reliability.

Working within a team of around twenty-three, you will ensure all mechanical maintenance work is carried out as efficiently as possible within safe working practices. You will also reduce plant and equipment failures through the development and enhancement of the planned preventative maintenance (PPM) of all plant and equipment. In addition, you will introduce and improve maintenance department procedures and assist in the development and control of capital, maintenance and engineering projects.

Finally, you will assist with the supervision and development of two subordinate staff and twenty-three hourly paid multi-skilled maintenance operatives and you will be responsible for the management and control of departmental health and safety, including the preparation of risk assessments.

Qualified to degree level in mechanical engineering, you will have supervisory experience of a maintenance department, preferably in a heavy engineering/manufacturing environment and experience of dealing with engineering and civil engineering contracts.

You will also be able to design mechanical projects and solutions, read technical and engineering information and procedures, interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and health and safety rules and write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.

Computer literate and numerate, you will be able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations as well as being able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. In addition, you will be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram from and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
